The sample material (particulate matter, including plankton (ENVO:xxxxxxxx)) was size-fractionated (0.8-5 micrometres) and preserved on board in liquid nitrogen for later phylogenetic analysis of protist (unicellular eukaryote) nucleotide sequences identification by pyrosequencing methods.
